Leadership in the spotlight

Debates, discussion and a few challenges will mark the experiences of students taking part in New Zealand Leadership Week.

The week runs from 26 June to 3 July and is promoted by the Sir Peter Blake Trust to raise awareness of the importance and impact of great leadership. Schools around the country are contributing to the events.

The Manawatu and Rangitikei Year 13 Leadership Odyssey will see nominated students spend two days at Ohakea Air Base, where they will take part in workshops on leadership. They will also face practical challenges to develop their leadership skills.

Christchurch Year 12 students will take part in a leadership conference hosted by Christ's College. Speakers include entertainer Oscar Kightley and Rugby World Cup 2012 boss Martin Sneddon.

There are further school events planned around the country that examine leadership within themes of the environment, sport and intermediate schools.
