Leadership celebrated

Piako Toastmasters Club will help mark New Zealand Leadership Week later this month. Club spokeswoman Bette Blance said the aim of the Sir Peter Blake Trust is to inspire New Zealanders to develop the qualities and characteristics evident in the visionary leadership of Sir Peter.

During New Zealand Leadership Week this year, more than 60 events have been planned across the country with a range of organisations, institutions and schools organising activities and events to get members, clients, the community, employees or students involved in debating, discussing or celebrating leadership.

New Zealand Leadership Week is being celebrated in Morrinsville by the Piako Toastmasters Club at its meeting on July 8. Toastmasters International has an educational programme that compromises two tracks. In the Communication Track, people aim to improve their speaking and listening skills. The Leadership Track focuses on developing leadership skills through involvement in club activities.

At the toastmasters' meeting, four speeches during the evening's programme will present various aspects of leadership. Ms Blance said the development of leadership skills in the pursuit excellence through determination and constant improvement is enhanced by evaluations that will follow each of these speeches.  Members and visitors will have the opportunity to be involved in impromptu speaking on topics pertaining to leadership.

People are invited to attend the meeting which starts at 7.45pm in the Senior Citizens Hall in Canada St, Morrinsville.
