Sis Petter Blake Trust

Welcome to our update for June.

Some significant news this month as the Trust moves onwards to its next stage of development.

We have outgrown our offices at Massey University's Albany campus and have moved to new offices in the heart of the Viaduct Harbour in down town Auckland. We feel this is very appropriate as we are now located on the shore of the very harbour that Sir Peter helped create to host the 2000 America's Cup and a location that has become a vibrant and well utilized area for hospitality and tourism. This location will certainly give us a greater profile and, most importantly, is in close proximity to our supporters and trustees.

We are grateful to Massey University for its support of the Trust during the first three years of our operation. The opportunity to have the support of the university's administrative, IT, printing and mail room services has been of great benefit to the Trust. Thank you Massey for your assistance in incubating the Sir Peter Blake Trust, it has been invaluable.

We also wish to thank and acknowledge the New Zealand National Maritime Museum, Tourism Auckland and Line 7/Canterbury Clothing for their support in providing this new office space.

The Sir Peter Blake Trust has now been operating for three years and has achieved a significant amount during that time. We are proud of the Sir Peter Blake Leadership Awards, New Zealand Leadership Week and the nine environmental programmes we are engaged with. We are poised to announce a significant new sponsor and some exciting new partnerships. The Trust is, therefore, now at a stage where it is a well established entity with a number of worthy and well-respected programmes. It has a growing reputation and profile and significant momentum. We are confident that we have created an organisation which appropriately honors Sir Peter.

As a consequence of this, our current Executive Director, Dr Mark Orams, who with the Trust Board has led the establishment of the Trust has indicated that it is an appropriate time for him to step back from the chief executive role and for him to continue with his academic career. Mark will remain as a member of the Trust Board and will continue to contribute to Trust Committees and help in the delivery of Trust programmes. He will, therefore, continue to play a significant role in the continued growth and success of the Sir Peter Blake Trust.

The Trust Board is delighted to announce that current Programme Director, Vicki Watson, has accepted the offer of becoming the Trust’s General Manager. Vicki has worked closely with Mark and has been an integral part of the executive team that has lead the Trust through its formative stages. She has a strong background in fundraising, project and financial management and brings this valuable skill set and experience to the position.

The Sir Peter Blake Trust has an exciting future and we look forward to the next stage of our development and, as always, we appreciate your continued support.

Regards

Mark Orams, Vicki Watson and Laura Fayerman
