Welcome to the November update.
Care For Our Coast Programme:
The
Sir Peter Blake Trust has initiated coastal clean ups for the
last three years. This is through a programme piloted with the
Spirit of Adventure Trust, who has been integral in the amazing 91
clean ups undertaken around New Zealand's coast line. Mount Hobson
Middle School is also a wonderful example of committed students helping
reduce the amount of rubbish entering fresh-water and marine
environments, with 20 clean ups completed.
The
Trust is extending this programme in 2008 by producing a teachers
resource. This enables a proactive approach in changing behaviour about
how we view and care for our marine environment. Care For Our
Coast Teacher’s Resource, designed for year groups 4-8 is a
comprehensive environmental education resource, that focuses
on coastal areas and waterways. This free resource is an exciting
approach to aspects of education for sustainability, part of the new
curriculum.
Welcome Onboard:
We are proud to announce the inclusion of Sheffield as our new supporter. Sheffield
works with leadership at all levels, both in an individual and
organisational context, to make a real difference to business and the
community in New Zealand.
Established
in New Zealand for nearly 50 years, Sheffield helps to recruit,
evaluate, develop and reward leaders and set up the environments within
which they can flourish. There is wonderful synergy in what Sheffield and the Trust are trying to achieve for New Zealand leadership.
Kind regards, Vicki and Laura |
