This "Boaties’ Environmental Code of Conduct" seeks to encourage skippers and crews to make a personal commitment to being environmentally responsible boat users. This code of conduct is voluntary. There are, of course, a number of regulations pertaining to environmental matters - such as the regulations controlling the discharge of waste and the regulations pertaining to the catching of fish and harvesting of shellfish - these are important. However, there are additional actions that we can commit to which will reduce the impact of recreational boating on the aquatic environment. Some of these are reflected in the code.

What we ask is that if you wish to make a commitment to be an environmentally responsible skipper that you make a conscious choice to adhere to the code. Place the sticker (free from the Sir Peter Blake Trust - email info@sirpeterblaketrust.org) in a prominent position on your vessel (say on the bulkhead, beside the companion way) and proudly advocate for adherence to the code for all onboard your vessel.
Let’s do our part as a boating community to contribute to the waters we enjoy so much.
"Having vision is not enough. Change comes through realising the vision and turning it into a reality. It is easy to espouse worthy goals, values and policies; the hard part is implementation."
