The expedition vessel Seamaster is currently alongside in the port of Ushuaia (the southern-most township in the world) following her exciting exploration of the Antarctic Peninsula.
Sir Peter Blake and the expedition team are taking a short break before preparing the vessel for delivery to Buenos Aires where, it is planned, she will be refitted for her next expedition, starting September, which will take her from the South Atlantic to the upper reaches of the Amazon and Orinoco rivers.
The TWI film crew have returned to Britain to begin work on cutting the series of three one-hour television documentaries on Seamaster’s Antarctic experience. The first programme in the series should be ready for global distribution in July/August this year.
The daily logs from Seamaster skipper Sir Peter Blake and his crew, which were a feature of the Antarctic expedition, have been discontinued but will re-emerge on this site at the start of the Amazon and Orinoco expedition.
Stay tuned though. We will keep you updated on Seamaster’s progress north, on her refit and on the developing plans and preparations for the exciting journey up and down the longest river in the world, through one of the most important ecosystems in the world.
We will also be featuring news stories and background articles on environmental issues as they surface, working closely with UNEP (the United Nation Environment Programme).
Plus, we will keep you posted on progress with our “Emission Impossible” project through which, working with leading designer Ron Holland, we are developing the totally eco-friendly expedition vessel which, in the future, will join Seamaster in the work of travelling to those remote parts of the world that are vital to planet earth’s continued well-being.
"Having vision is not enough. Change comes through realising the vision and turning it into a reality. It is easy to espouse worthy goals, values and policies; the hard part is implementation."
