In 2001, New Zealand lost an irreplaceable hero. Ten years on,
the Sir Peter Blake Trust strives to honour his leadership, love
for the environment, and his dedication to young people.
10th Anniversary Tribute Event
On Tuesday 6 December, the Sir Peter Blake Trust held a special
tribute to Sir Peter on the 10 year anniversary of his death. The
event was held in a place dear to Sir Peter Blake, his family, his
crew and to all of New Zealand - Auckland's Viaduct Harbour.
Friends of Sir Peter Blake shared their memories and Pippa, Lady
Blake reflected on the last 10 years including the Trust's work to
keep Peter's legacy alive.
Young Blake Expedition to the Kermadecs
The announcement of the Young Blake
Expedition to the Kermadecs - an 11 day environmental
adventure for 30 young New Zealanders - by the Trust's Patron the
Governor-General Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae and Pippa,
Lady Blake was a highlight of the 10th Anniversary Tribute
event.
The Young Blake Expedition to the Kermadecs will see 30
secondary school students from around New Zealand travel on board
HMNZS Canterbury to the Kermadec Islands from 8 - 19 August, with a
crew of subject experts, scientists, artists, educators,
communicators and leaders.
The expedition will be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to one of
the most unique and special places on the planet, and the Trust is
proud to be working with the Ministry for the Environment, the
Royal New Zealand Navy, the Department of Conservation, Pew
Environment Group, Experiencing Marine Reserves and LEARNZ to
honour Sir Peter's memory with this exciting new
initiative.

leader and a dedicated family man with a passion for the
environment and a desire to make a difference.
The Trust's new website, launched as part of the 10 year
Tribute, endeavours to make Sir Peter's story, work and
